Ramu NiCo successfully observed the 2019 National Mining Safety Week commencing on 8th of April involving all three sites, Basamuk Refinery, Kurumbukari Mine and Madang Base.
The opening ceremony was attended by Vice President Wang Baowen, Vice President Xu Jian, Vice President Zhao Deqian. KBK Mine Registered Manager, Mr. Sarimu Kanu, Basamuk Registered Works Manager Mr. Bill Hill opened the NMSW for both sites.
Vice President Zhao Deqian in his opening remarks urged all employees to realize that safety is paramount than production and having a safety conscious workforce will enable safe and consistent production. Mr. Zhao said safety awareness must be part of all employees work ethics at all times.
Registered Mine Manager, Mr. Sarimu Kanu challenged all employees to seriously look at safety and health in work place and ensure highest safety standard performed on site.
Bill Hill urged his Basamuk employees to think Safety in terms of Process Safety given the Refinery’s production nature. He reminds all to focus on the Process Safety Management systems and rectify hazards once identified.
At the opening ceremony, Corporate HSE site HSE offices reported the plans for the NMSW, all superintendents and above attended the meeting.
