RAMU NiCo is continuing its support towards health services by purchasing medicines for rural health centre in Madang province.Usino health centre in Usino Bundi district was a proud recipient of its third quarterly medical supply delivered by Ramu NiCo in late August.
The health clinic has been progressing well with its backup quarterly medical health supply from Ramu NiCo since the program started. Usino Health Centre’s acting officer in charge, Bruno Maliupa said the medical supply that Ramu NiCo has been providing to the clinic has helped the clinic when the National Government’s supply is low or at most times delayed.
He said with an estimated catch ment population of 7000, the Usino health centre is more reliant on the medical supply assistance it get from the company as it responds to their medical requests as soon as a request is made.
The Ramu NiCo project is the only nickel and cobalt mine in Papua New Guinea and being the only mine in Madang Province, it prioritises its landowners and shareholders through programs such as health, education, job training and employment as well asinfrastructure programs.
Ramu NiCo Management (MCC) Limited time and again has backed up the routine medical supplies to the clinics as sometimes they do not arrive on time from the government system.
