A team of government officials from the Department of Treasury visited the Ramu NiCo
Management (MCC) Limited headquarters in Madang on March 17 for a business liaison
program.
“It’s good to foster a working relationship with the State and the corporate citizens of our
country, and Ramu NiCo Project is important to us,” Peter Mondoro, First Assistant Secretary
of the Treasury Department, said.
Mr Mondoro, accompanied by senior economist, Charisma Kurangkewe, and economist,
Germain Ruigi, met with the Ramu NiCo Vice President – Assistant, Jason Jia, general manager
of community affairs department, Martin Paining, and human resources (HR) manager. Jeffers
Teargun.
“Our purpose of coming here was to collect raw data in terms of production, employment and
corporate social responsibilities in order to identify challengu in the private sector and help
the government formulate fiscal planning, policies and budgetary purposes.” Mr Mondoro
said.
In welcoming the government officials, Mr Jia said Ramu NiCo is willing to provide information
and assistance to any government programs.
“Ramu NiCo will be operating for the next 20 years and anything the company can do to help
in the quest for national development aspirations and the policy frameworks will be sup-

Mr Paining has called on the relevant government agencies to hold to account the landowner
companies in terms of compliance issues.
“Ramu NiCo is pumping a lot of money into the Landowner Umbrella Companies every year
but most of these funds disappear into thin air.” Mr Paining said.
