Ramu NiCo Management brought 1 team and Ramu NiCo Land Owners Brought 3 landowner company teams to compete during the recent 3-Person Charity Ambrose Golf Competition at the Madang Country Club on Friday 11th of August to maintain “One Ramu NiCo, One Community” slogan during the charity Golf game.
The one-day Golf Game was specifically hosted to raise fund for the Modilon General Hospital and 26 teams from different business houses in Madang including other provinces’ teams competing at the Madang Country Club.
The teams from Ramu NiCo consist of “Team Ramu NiCo” that represented the resource developer and teams from the Land Owner Companies of the Ramu Nickel Project that included the “Raibus Limited”, “Ramu Transport Service” and the “Basamuk Landowner Association” who played to support the good cause.
Ramu NiCo Community Affairs (CA) Department’s Deputy General Manager, Albert Tobe, thanked sponsor for choosing to host the golf game at Madang Country Club that would raise funds to support Modilon General Hospital.
The Deputy General Manager said Ramu NiCo was a company always supporting events that promote the wellbeing of the people of the province where the mine is operating.
He said that taking part in a charity event like this was one way to show that the resource developer was also a concern member of the community in Madang Province.
“Such events like this are also good for Corporate Houses to connect and share information with each other in Madang Province and the country,” Tobe said.
He said, “Ramu NiCo will always be here in Madang to support, promote and assist in programs like this for many years to come.”
“Last year Ramu NiCo sponsored Madang Ambrose Golf Game in November at Madang Country Club and we might also host a similar event,” Tobe added.
Madang Country Club Golf’s President, George Ireng, also thanked Ramu NiCo for actively participating in the games at Madang Country Club that raised money worth K6,500,000 during the charity golf games.
“There are good things coming on the horizon for Madang Country Club, therefore being patient is important,” the president said.
The games continue on Saturday 12th to Sunday 13thwith the Madang Open Golf Championship competition with teams coming from as far as Western Highlands Province, Wewak and Morobe Province to participate in the Madang Golf Open.
