Ramu NiCo Management (MCC) Limited (RNML), the largest Nickle and Cobalt Mine in Papua New Guinea, joyfully celebrated Christmas with its stakeholders in Madang Base on the 22nd of December 2023 with the theme “Celebrating Unity and Achievements”.
As guided by the ideal of “One Ramu NiCo, One Community,” RNML is committed in building a harmonious relationship with everyone for the smooth mining operation and mutual benefits.
The event was blended with the meet and greet, speeches, ice-breaking fun games and refreshment that showcased the bondage of happiness, care, love, friendship and stewardship for one and other and as corporate body that strive for growth, prosperity and success in all aspects of life.
The turnout of the event includes representatives from RNML, Public Servants, Land Owner Associations (LOA) from project sites, Kurumbukari (KBK) Mine, Inland and Coastal Pipeline Zones and Basamuk (BSK) Refinery.
Deputy General Manager of RNML’s Community Affairs (CA) Albert Tobe opened the event with a prayer and gave acknowledgment for making the event fun, informative and cherished in unity.
RNML’s President-Assistance Jason Jia gave the keynote address. He acknowledges and appreciates all project stakeholders for working together in this operational year (2023).
“Generally, this year was a stable year for the operation and production of the Ramu NiCo Project,” Mr. Jia Said. ” The MOA review will be the first topic for the next year.”
Mr. Jia said in Chinese Traditional Culture 2024 is the year of “Dragon”, just like the dragon is dancing in the sky, he wishes everyone and their families a happy Merry Christmas and New Year 2024.
CA’s General Manager, Martin Paining said Christmas is a special event for all of us, as a group, family, district, province and nation. Christmas is an occasion to reflect on what we have done in the last twelve (12) months.
“People in the local communities are the ones who determine the existence of the associations, company and government. Therefore, if our actions are not benefiting the people, we need to readjust ourselves and make sure our programs focusing on the benefit of the community,” said Mr. Paining.
Madang Rural Police Commander, Peter Gorek thanked RNML for supporting the law and order enforcement in the province.
“Without your help we couldn’t do much in saving lives and properties for the local people and general public,” said Gorek.
Madang Town mayor, Peter Yalsi said he recognized RNML as a big generating revenue in Madang Province and he was pleased for that.
Mr. Yalsi also thanked RNML for the aid and financial assistance towards all LLGs in Madang Province. He said even though the landowners are benefiting from the project, all LLGs also received the portion or benefits from the project as well.
