From June 24th to 27th, the 13th batch of Chinese Medical Teams aid to Papua New Guinea arrived at Madang Province where Ramu NiCo located, to provide public welfare medical service to local community residents, employees of Chinese enterprises, and overseas Chinese. This voluntary helping action has achieved good social response and received widespread praise.

With the assistance of Ramu NiCo, the medical team came to Banu Community near the KBK Mining of Ramu NiCo to provide free treatment and medicine for the victims who experienced rainstorm, flood, landslide and other serious natural disasters in March this year. Six doctors from Chongqing braved the scorching sun and provided professional and meticulous health monitoring and diagnosis services to over 200 local villagers and Ramu NiCo employees, patiently promoting health knowledge. The medical team communicated and exchanged ideas with local medical institutions and personnel, providing guidance and suggestions for their work.

The medical team also provided free medical services for employees of Chinese enterprises and overseas Chinese in Madang Province, letting them feel the care of motherland.

Taking this voluntary free medical service as an opportunity, Ramu NiCo donated drugs as well as medical supplies such as masks and disinfectant hand sanitizers to Madang Provincial Health Bureau. Meng Deyong, Vice President of Ramu NiCo, attended the donation ceremony and stated that Ramu NiCo attaches great importance to the medical development and public health of Madang Province where Ramu NiCo Project is located. Ramu NiCo has always been maintaining a close cooperative relationship with the public medical institutions of Madang Province for a long time and will continue to contribute to the sustainable development of Madang Province’s medical and health career in the future.

Karoi Kamac, Deputy Director of the Health Bureau of Madang Province, welcomes the Chinese voluntary medical team to provide free medical service for local people, promote advanced medical skills and concepts. He expresses gratitude to Ramu NiCo for donating medical supplies and drugs. He stated that the professional medical services provided by the Chinese Medical Team and the long-term support provided by Ramu NiCo have truly brought benefits to the local people, and also demonstrated the enduring and strong friendship between China and Papua New Guinea.

The PNG has been grappling with significant healthcare disparities and limited medical resources. With a population of over 9 million, the country has only 0.7 doctors for every 10,000 people, a figure significantly lower than the global average of 22. This situation has placed substantial demands on the Chinese medical team. Since 2002, China has been continuously dispatching medical aid teams to Papua New Guinea for 22 years, making outstanding contributions to the development of Papua New Guinea’s health industry and deepening the friendship of both sides.

With the proactive organization and strong support of Ramu NiCo, the voluntary medical service has achieved a complete success and gained wide-spread welcome and praise of local people, health institutions, and other parties. The medical team members stated that they will continue to vigorously promote the spirit of the Chinese Medical Team, which is “fearless of hardship, willing to help, saving lives and helping the wounded, and loving without border”. They will continue to help improving the medical level of Papua New Guinea, benefit local people, and enhance the friendship between China and Papua New Guinea.
