Ramu NiCo in Madang has once more come out to support a fund raiser to assist Gaubin hospital on Karkar Island in Madang.

The company registered 3 golfers namely Erick Kuman, Albert Tobe and Gilbert Kambuka who participated during the one day golf tournament on Friday 23rd of August, among 19 other corporate teams from all over Papua New Guinea.

The single day event was one way of giving back to community projects that benefit the people on a larger scale.

Gaubin district hospital on Karkar Island is part of Madang province which Ramu NiCo is located and it was an honor for the company to give back to the people of Karkar Island through the golf fundraiser.

Karkar Island is part of 19 local level government areas that also benefitted from the Ramu NiCo Royalty through its local level government share, however, additional help from the only nickel and cobalt mine in the province is still of paramount importance.

When it comes to supporting hospitals, Ramu NiCo management takes that as a step towards saving more lives.

The mining company not only focuses on its mining activities but giving back to its project impact area communities in the form of education support, medical, agriculture and other economic benefits is a primary responsibility.

Ramu NiCo’s hands reaches out to people in its project impact areas and the country as a whole through royalties distributions, its Community Development Fund program, local work force training, Graduate Development Scheme program and other emergency assistance.

The only nickel and cobalt mine in Madang will continue to assist in the development of its project impact areas and further extend its assistance to the wider communities in Madang province and Papua New Guinea if and when needed.
