Ramu NiCo in Madang has once more rescued the Usino Rural health center with medical drugs supply when the government drug supplies through the Madang Provincial health authority delayed reaching the health center in time.

Usino rural health center has a catchment of 26, 000 population who receive treatments when they have medical issues.

Care taker of the health center Levi Wiga said the population demand for the basic medical drugs calls for consistent supply and Ramu NiCo’s timely assistant was highly commended because the medical drugs supplied by the company would continue to keep the health center running till the government’s medical drugs supply reach the health center.

The medical drugs supplies was the third quarter supply to Usino Health Center as part of Ramu NiCo’s annual assistance to four health facilities along the foot prints of the mine in the Inland Pipeline area.

The medicines were received by Mr Wiga and the Coordinator for Family Health programs at Usino Health Centre Kelly Wingon.

The medical drugs supplied by Ramu NiCo Management was the third quarter distribution of the annual allocation which Usino Rural Health Centre receives quarterly.

The four health facilities in the Inland Pipeline area that receive the medical assistance from the Ramu NiCo subsidy are Usino health center, Naru, Ono and Buksak Aid Posts.

Ramu NiCo’s annual Medical Subsidy is also distributed in the form of medical drugs to Ileg Health Center and Ganlau Aid Post in Raicoast district and Enekwai Aid Post near Ramu NiCo’s Kurumbukari mine site.

General Manager for Ramu NiCo’s Community Affairs Department, Eric Kuman said Ramu NiCo is happy to assist the people living in communities along the company’s project impact areas.

Mr Kuman encouraged people living in the project impact areas not to see the company’s royalties as the only avenue for assistance but to be aware that services like the supply of medical drugs can reach them through projects like the medical subsidy.

Meanwhile Ramu NiCo also allocates funds annually for medical drugs supplies and other health programs for health facilities in Kurumbukari mine site, Inland Pipeline and Costal pipeline areas and Basamuk refinery site under its Community Development Fund (CDF) program.
