A young graduate from the University of Technology in Lae Morobe Province appreciates Ramu NiCo Management ( MCC) Limited (RNML) for giving him the opportunity to work and build his working experience with the largest nickel and cobalt mine in Papua New Guinea.
Coming from a mixed parentage of Oro and Morobe Province, Michael Maire graduated this year 2024 at the University of Technology in Lae City, Papua New Guinea, majoring in Mineral Processing Engineering, and is one of the fortunate student that was offered a two years Graduate Development Scheme opportunity to work at Ramu NiCo’s Kurumbukari Mine.
“Ramu NiCo will now contribute to my growth following a 3 months shift from the mines beneficiation plant and other field at the mine while continuing my GDS training in the two years,” Mr. Maire said.
Being the elder son in the family, the young and easy – going Maire applied to several other companies before graduating and had not been successful due to the scarcity of employment in the country as well as not meeting the set out requirements that companies and organization always expected.
“Today, some of my course mates are still struggling to find employment in the country ,”Mr. Maire said.
“I was blessed to be recognized by Ramu NiCo and given the opportunity to learn, work and interact with people from different nationality, culture and to gain that vital working experience that will always remain as a foundation for my future,” he said.
“I also want to thank Ramu NiCo for establishing the Graduate Development Scheme, making me and other 19 new graduates to be pioneers of this marvelous program,” Mr. Maire added.
Ramu NiCo’s Graduate Development Scheme has given a partway for students that could now impart vital knowledge on the job training as a foundation for new graduates in various Tertiary Institutions throughout Papua New Guinea.
This opportunity is seen as an occasion that will determine a particular graduate to work with the best in the Resource Industry as well as setting a foundation for young Papua New Guineans to up skill their knowledge on practical aspect of work from classroom theory.
The Ramu NiCo Graduate Development Scheme ( GDS ) program has now a subject of interest for students who wanted to be part of a multicultural diverse and integrated working environment that not only mold and prepare them to be part of a multi national human resource that contribute to the development of Papua New Guinea.
