Landowner Company for the Ramu Nickel and Cobalt Project in Madang Province appointed its first Female Site Supervisor for its operations at Ramu NiCo Management (MCC) Limited (RNML) Basamuk Refinery (BSK).
Her role would be to look after the site operations under Raibus Group of Company’s Umbrella Company’s Engineering Company.
The new site supervisor for Raibus Engineering Ms. Elisabeth Tuya was appointed by Raibus Umbrella Company to work and look after the operation of the landowner company early this year through her commitment and dedication to work when she first started working as a housekeeping staff 13 years ago.
Ms. Tuya’s journey began with a lot of challenges as a single parent and she eventually overcome all the odds and climbed slowly up the leadership rank till last year when she was bestowed the highest rank to supervise the landowner umbrellla company’s engineering department the at Ramu NiCo project Refinery site.
She is one of the first female site supervisor in the history of Raibus Group of Company that has been given a task to look after the operation on site and report straight to the managers up the rank.
“Since Raibus Engineering started till now, there were a lot of male workers engaged to supervise site operations however last year, I was given the mandate to supervise Raibus Engineering’s Basamuk operation and work closely with Ramu NiCo’s Basamuk Refinery operations as a contractor company”, Ms Tuya said.
Her work and commitment to work and overall performances gave her the opportunity to further her education in 2020 by Raibus Group of Companies to study Human Resources. Adding on to that, she was sponsored to take up the training on Able Payroll.
“I started work in 2011 with my first job as a housekeeping maid and through my performance I was promoted to housekeeping assistant supervisor in 2012,” Ms Tuya said.
“However I resigned in February 2012 due to personal commitments but reapplied again in October to Raibus Group in the same year and was offered a position as a kitchen assistant to work in Madang”, she said
Ms Tuya later applied to work as secretary for at the Landowner Company’s Head office and was successful and she worked for some time and later promoted to work as a payroll officer.
“I now look after 130 employees in Raibus Engineering and work in all the different departments at the Basamuk Refinery,” Ms Tuya said.
The appointment is not the only appointment in the history of Raibus Group, but it’s the first for the Largest Landowner Group of Companies to set a benchmark for a female supervisor to supervise it employers working on site at Ramu NiCo’s Basamuk Refinery.
The Raibus Group of companies have been a core business arm for the Landowners of the Ramu NiCo Project that have been employing youths from the project corridors to work, gain experience, provide training program as well as giving landowners back the obligation to work and look after the project in Madang.

Her sacrifices didn’t stop her to pursue to her dreams of becoming somebody someday like she was today. Her story started small from a very humble beginning. Her story is a testimony to encourage others to start small, work hard and to have a willing heart to learn, adapt and adjust to new challenges, accept and make use of every positive opportunity that speaks prosperity.
