The year 2024 ended with a significant note for the only and largest Nickel and Cobalt in Papua New Guinea located in Madang Province with the spirit of working together despite nationalities and cultural diversity.
Ramu NiCo Vice President Meng Deyong said the company had experience many challenges, however; managed to tackle them through this year with great results.
Mr Meng said that during the Christmas luncheon with the Ramu NiCo employees at the company’s head office in Madang on Monday 24 December, 2024.
He urged all employees to be best team players in their line of duties and achieve better outcomes in the coming 2025 onwards and enjoy the company benefits in store for them.
Ramu NiCo Community Affairs Manager Erick Kuman said Christmas was a time for family gathering and as part of the Ramu NiCo family; he expressed his gratitude to be part of a dynamic team that makes up the Ramu NiCo family.
Mr Kuman said his office deals closely with landowners and noted significant assistance distributed to landowners in the 12 months.
He said the company build classrooms for schools, build aid posts and supply medical drugs and sponsor tertiary students through the distribution of royalties, the Community Development Fund programs and other avenues the company used.
Mr Kuman said Ramu NiCo has also contributed at the national level through taxes.
“We must be thankful that Ramu NiCo has impacted the lives of people living along the foot prints of the mine,” Mr Kuman said.
He said people in the project impact areas are now enjoying the services like good roads and bridges where they have no access to before the construction of the mine.
Mr Kuman said Ramu NiCo has 1100 nationals working in the Chinese owned mine who have families to support.
He thanked the Ramu NiCo management for impacting the live of the landowners and taking care of the welfare of its employees.

The employees ended an exciting day with a marathon around the company yard. The top three athletes for both male and females received gifts while all participants received complimentary mobile credits of K20 flex cards and K10 vodafon credits each.
