The Community Affairs Department of Ramu NiCo Mining Limited has hosted a delightful Christmas function for the various groups, Land Owners Association (LOA) and important stakeholders as a token of appreciation for their relationship and continuous collaboration made over the year of 2024.
The function was held at Madang Star on Friday 20th of December, with all the invited guests present at the Christmas function.
The General Manager of the Community Affairs Department of RNML Mr. Eric Kuman as the first speaker gave his opening remarks and acknowledgements to the various groups such as MRA and the mayor of Madang town, the Landowners Association (LOA) and stakeholders such the Madang Provincial Government, Mi Bank and BSP Bank who were present at the function.
Mr. Kuman gave his word of appreciation to the two banking services for their services and support for the royalty payments that were made over the years.
“Thank you all and I know that you will continue to support the mine and the land owners” he said.
He also extended his word of appreciation to the LOA’s, Women’s Association Groups and the Police officers who were present and engaged in the project to ensure that law and order was in place.
“Since working with Ramu NiCo I have seen that, Ramu NiCo pays royalty to each and every group such as women groups, church groups and LLGs, with Ramu NiCo’s support it is surely empowering women to be in the development space of the province which is through the project” he said.
“And I am happy to see that the company is doing this” he added.
Mr. Kuman said the Ramu NiCo project has also recognized and have given all the 19 LLGs within the province a remarkable support through the royalties.
With Madang is the home province of where the project is located, it is evident to see that the company is indeed contributing to quite a lot of developments, especially in the Raicoast District of Madang Province and other various contributions to the whole province itself.
Chairman of the Coastal Pipeline Landowner Association Steven Saun expressed words appreciation to Mr. Kuman and RNML and MCC. Mr Saun said the company and the people of Raicoast District does have their own history.
“I want to say thank you to Ramu NiCo for bringing all of us together and to reflect back on our journey of how far we have come, we had a good days and our bad days,” he said.
“Somethings have become easier for us and I would like that we should stand together and work with the company,” Mr Saun stated.
“I do believe the project will have an extension, and I also hope we will address some of our issues in 2025 and with that I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and we look forward to what 2025 will bring” he added.
The Christmas function ended well with good music, lovely food and laughter.
