Ramu NiCo Management (MCC) Limited (RNML) the developer of the only Nickel and Cobalt Mine in Papua New Guinea has officially approved and handed over a contract to its Landowner Company for the maintenance of the Madang Traffic Police Station.
The maintenance program will commence on the second week of February 2025 and is expected to end in April of this year.
The contract Awardee of the Ramu NiCo Project, Raibus Engineering Limited signed the contract on the 27th of January at the mines head office in Madang that was fully funded by Ramu NiCo and witnessed by Madang Police Traffic representative and Ramu NiCo’s Community Affairs Officers. The maintenance program for the old traffic office will have a greater impact to Madang Traffic Police Office.
Ramu NiCo Community Affairs General Manager Mr. Eric Kuman said the Traffic Office in Madang has been an office that plays a vital role in Madang town and has been deteriorating over the years.
“Today I am pleased to offer this contract to our very own landowner company, Raibus Engineering Limited to do maintenance to Madang Traffic Office as an indication that we are always willing to assist in the development of the Landowner Companies. This is also to support our local Policeman and Women who are working tirelessly to keep law and order at ease in Madang,” Mr. Kuman said.
Madang Traffic OIC Sargent Frank Makora who was present during the ceremony on behalf of Madang Provincial Police Commander Acting Superintendent Robert Baim appreciated the effort by Ramu NiCo.
He said Ramu NiCo Management (MCC) Limited has been a significant supporter to the effort of Law-and-Order in Madang province for many years that has been speculating in the national media and today, the signing of the fully funded Maintenance Project by Ramu NiCo to Madang Traffic Office is another significant mile stone for the policing program in Madang.
“On behalf of Madang PPC, I want to thank Ramu NiCo for the continues support to the Madang Police for the funding for the maintenance of the Madang Traffic Police station”, Sargent Frank Makora said.
The maintenance program is expected to commence as soon as the office is moved to a different location in preparation for the maintenance program.
Ramu NiCo as the only mineral extraction and refining company in Madang has become a true corporate citizen of Madang Province since the mine operates with funding and programs to bettering the once good image of Madang.
This assistance is centred on the social and corporate responsibility of Ramu NiCo with funding’s, royalties, employment opportunity, law and order, business opportunities as well as medical and other program.
