In a significant professional development achievement, eleven staff members from Ramu NiCo’s operations in the Madang Province have successfully completed a two-day Trade Test Level 1 certificate course in Heavy Motor Technology.
The 11 men team, comprised of 10 employees from the company’s Basamuk refinery and one from the Kurumbukari’ Mobile and Equipment plants demonstrated a remarkable dedication as they completed the course ahead of schedule at the Port Moresby Technical College which was scheduled from April 01 to April 02.
The intensive training program was designed to enhance the technicians’ skills in heavy motor maintenance and operations, ensuring they meet industry standards in a rapidly evolving field.
Tatu Akoi the Diesel Heavy Equipment Fitter Trainer and Assessor for both Basamuk and Kurumbukari work sites said the course covered essential topics, including safety protocols, mechanical fault diagnosis, and the principles of operating and maintaining heavy machinery.
Participants expressed their enthusiasm about the training, acknowledging its impact on their professional growth and operational efficiency at Ramu NiCo.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to enhance our skills and knowledge in heavy motor technology,” Basamuk participant Bryan Otto said.
“This training not only equipped us better for our jobs but also contributed to the overall productivity and safety in our work environment,” Mr Otto said.
