The Basamuk Lab is a critical part to ensure the stable operation of the sophisticated process system and the stability of product quality in the refinery. Liu Nancai, superintendent of Lab, have witnessed and played an important role in the development of the Lab from an empty building to a standardized laboratory.
In 2010, when Liu Nancai arrived at Basamuk Refinery as a technician, the Lab building was just constructed. Liu had taken part in the series work including the overall organization of lab, equipment installation and calibration, establishment of experimental method and technical code.
Liu Nancai has been working as the superintendent of the lab since 2013. He continuously promotes standardization of the lab. With the assistance of the supervisors and engineers, he developed systematic policy, code and quality management system in line with the ISO17025, which built a solid foundation for operational compliance.
To implement the company’s localization strategy, Liu Nancai has been keeping recruiting and training national employees. He developed various Work Instructions, skills training and assessment materials, and imparting professional knowledge and operational skills to nationals regularly. With these trainings, many nationals have now acquired high level skills and got promoted to supervisory positions.
In order to share the testing results timely and provide guidance for process, Liu Nancai took the lead and established the Database System of Laboratory, all departments can login the system and get the latest results. Besides, once there is fluctuation in the system, the lab can easily find the cause from mass data analysis, and put forward the optimization scheme to ensure the stability of system process and product quality.
Under the leadership of Liu Nancai, jointed with closer collaboration of Chinese and PNG nationals, the Basamuk Lab has developed into a systematized, standardized and highly localized laboratory, and became the backbone of the stable process and high quality production of the refinery.
