The Training Department at Ramu NiCo Management Limited’s (RNML) Basamuk Refinery has continued with its training schedules for employees, but this time new employees who have never had hands-on trainings about working at heights and the safety measures involved got some experience during the first week of September.
Health safety and environment trainer, Basamuk Refinery Maria Poha said the recent training conducted was to train new employees on procedures of working safely at heights.
“The training focused on the three point contact when climbing, once on elevated platforms, they must remember to hook on when using the safety harness as well as how to use the elevated work platform equipment when working at heights,” she said.
The working at heights training started off with its theory component and ended with the practical bit at the emergency response team’s training ground.
The training is compulsory to avoid safety breaches and to fulfil the safety act and regulatory.
