Ramu NiCo Management (MCC) Limited(RNML) assists Ganglau Health Centre with funding to renovate its building and facilities at Rai Coast District where the Ramu NiCo’s Basamuk(BSK) Refinery is located.
The clinic built by the Mineral Resource Authority serves more than ten thousand (10, 000) people of all ages along Saidor Local Level Government.
RNML had donated thousands of kina through its Community Development Fund to help Ganglau Health Centre to re-paint walls, replace windows of its building and generator house, to repair and renovate health facilities. Both the buildings and facilities had worn away and some were out of service.
The Clinic Nursing Officer in charge Mr. Martin Uma said the clinic had never been renovated or repaired since being put into use.
Because of the clinic’s poor condition with zero to none medicine supply, a pregnant woman from the neighbouring Bobadik village Yangiam Geyo had to be transported to Madang to deliver her baby in November 2023, said Uma.
Up to Now, Ramu NiCo is the only medicine supplier of the clinic and has provided medicines quarterly for many years. “Once this medicine runs out, our only option is to send every patient to Madang,” Uma said.
Uma thanked Ramu NiCo for providing much needed health facilities and medicines that help the clinic to care about local villagers’ health from neighbouring four ward areas (Ward 28,29,30 and 31) in Saidor LLG.
Ramu NiCo has always been maintaining its corporate responsibilities through its well-known slogan of “One Ramu NiCo, One Community” by collaborative efforts of all entities to work together for the benefits of the communities where it operates in.
Since the operation of the mine and refinery , RNML has always provided health services in various ways such as donating medicines, building aid posts, using company’s health facilities for local patients.
