“Everyone have their strength and weakness in work, one person can be good at one particular task while others can be good at something. The only obstacle is the type of environment that you’re currently in, this will only determine your true potential,” Mr. George Joe said.
George Joe, the current Public Relations (PR) Officer for the largest Nickel and Cobalt Mine in Papua New Guinea, joined Ramu NiCo Management (MCC) Limited (RNML) in 2022 and his performance has proven him to receive an Employee of the Year award in 2024.
The young PR officer is the first-time officer to receive a prestigious award from the Chinese nationally owned company in a short period of time while working with Ramu NiCo.
Originally from Madang (Bogia) and Southern Highlands Province (Ialibu), Mr. George Joe worked with three organizations in the past before joining Ramu NiCo.
The Employee of the year 2024, Mr. George Joe graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Divine Word University in 2018, majoring in Journalism and Public Relations has an attitude of working hard and putting his job obligations first.
“If you love your job, the job will love you back and that is what I have been doing and receiving when I first joined RNML,” the proud employee said.
Some of the many achievement stories by the PR officer for the award recognition by RNML that was bestowed to him was the preparation and planning for RNML’s involvement in the Inaugural PNG Community Affairs and National Content Conference & EXPO 2023 (CANCONEX) in Lae, Morobe Province, and the preparation of the PNG-Asia Investment Conference hosted by PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum in the same year at Hong Kong for RNML to attend.
The public relations officer said, meeting deadlines and setting new programs and planning will only delay you if you are lazy in the role you play.
“When I was preparing everything for RNML to attend the PNG-Asia Investment Conference, I was also very sick and had to gather up my strength, just to go to the office and complete my job, however I didn’t attend the conference in Hong Kong due to the slow processing of my National Identification (NID) Card to process my passport,” George said.
The only response that George gave to the representatives from RNML before travelling to attend the conference was “my presence is with everything that I prepared for the company to display in Hong Kong”, possessing a strong team spirit, strength, proudness and a loyal heart he portrayed without any negativity.
RNML PR officer Mr. George Joe is a type of employee that enjoys his work in writing content for the company, striking new deals with the national media to benefit RNML and the chief editor for RNML Bi-monthly Garamut Magazine has always maintain the team spirit of “One Ramu NiCo, One Community” in his workplace.
He is a rare and multi-talented individual that RNML is proud to have and his practice and work quality is also a testament that is heard both in PNG and China.
