Ramu NiCo Basamuk Refinery donated an automotive engine and transmission assembly to the Basamuk Vocational Training Center on Friday August 30, which would support the center’s automotive mechanic training program and enhance the local vocational education standards.
The Basamuk Vocational Training Center is located in the Gawa Primary School, six kilometers from the Basamuk Refinery. Established in 2023, the training center aims to improve the vocational skills of local residents, helping them secure better employment opportunities and serve the community more effectively. Currently, the center offers carpentry and basic repair skills training courses.
To further expand the students’ vocational skills, the training center approached Ramu NiCo for assistance, requesting an engine to initiate the automotive mechanic training course. The Refinery management fully supported this request and provided an engine and transmission assembly.
Kevin Basan, head of the training center, expressed his sincere gratitude for Ramu NiCo’s generous donation. He noted that the engine is crucial for the mechanic training, significantly boosted the trainees’ enthusiasm. By integrating theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice, the trainees will be able to substantially improve their practical skills and widen their career options. Basan also expressed hope for continued collaboration with Ramu NiCo to develop more skilled professionals and promote the development of the local community.
At the donation ceremony, Deputy General Manager Sam Duan expressed Ramu NiCo’s support for the training center and encouraged trainees to fully utilize the training opportunities provided, learn valuable skills and enhance their future employment prospects.
General Manager Chen Baosheng expressed his hopes that the Basamuk Vocational Training Center would continue to nurture skilled talent, offering them valuable opportunities for future growth. He added, “We look forward to these talented trainees joining Ramu NiCo and contributing to the company.”
After the ceremony, Ramu NiCo representatives, guided by Kevin Basan, visited the training center’s facilities to gain a deeper understanding of its conditions and current educational operations.
