Ramu NiCo donated a batch of sporting goods to Mindre Primary School and Basamuk Sports Association in Basamuk community that plan to carry out a variety of cultural and sports activities to welcome the Independence Day of Papua New Guinea.
During the donation ceremony, Mr. Bill Hill, the Registered Manager of Ramu NiCo’s Basamuk Refinery, delivered a speech on behalf of the company. He noted that sports are not only a form of entertainment but also a bridge that brings together people from different places, cultural backgrounds, traditions, and languages, fostering friendship and unity. He also pointed out that no matter win or lose, participants should respect their opponents and enjoy the game and experience that the competition brings.
Mr. Hill also mentioned that Ramu NiCo would continue supporting similar community events, hope the tournament would not only strengthen community bonds but also bring more joy to the Independence Day celebrations, urging everyone to celebrate the occasion in a healthy and peaceful manner.
The officials of the Basamuk Sports Association, along with the participating teams, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Ramu NiCo for its donation. They highlighted that the contribution not only improved the quality of the competition, creating a positive atmosphere for the Independence Day festivities.
Ms. Sharon Kulimbao, a teacher at Mindre Primary School, expressed deep gratitude for Ramu NiCo’s ongoing support to the school. She emphasized that the sports equipment will play a crucial role in the Arts Day activities and will continue to benefit the school’s daily physical education programs in the future. “Ramu NiCo’s donation has provided us with valuable resources, improving our sports facilities and enhancing the students’ campus experience,” she said.
