The trip to China was an amazing experience for Registered Manager in Ramu NiCo’s Kurumbukari Mine Mr Joseph Umare.
First glimpse of China when the plane Umare travelled touched on the soil of China, Umare was amazed on the revelation of what’s before him. The cleanliness of the environment, the tall buildings all neatly decorated reflected the technology that China has for the world.
It gave him a new perspective of China and what China can offer to the world, amazingly China has preserved its history over thousands of years.
“I thank Ramu NiCo for this opportunity of a lifetime which I was able to visit the following unique places such as Beijing Olympic Park, Temple of Heaven, Beijing Museum, Forbidden City and Great Wall,” Umare said.
Walking into and through the Forbidden City was like taking a step back in time when Emperors ruled China. On the wall of the nine dragons, Umare recalled one of the dragons that was carved onto the rocks or stone wall had a piece missing during the construction time. It was revealed to Umare that the workers at that time were scared and painted a piece of wood and replaced it. It was later discovered after 200 years during re-painting of the nine dragons.
When stepping out of the Forbidden City Umare and his colleagues entered the modern China as it is today with fast cars, huge sky scrapers and busy traffic movement.
It’s an incredible atmosphere and furthermore, climbing the Great Wall of China was an experience he will treasure for a life time. Umare hope to visit the ancient structure again in the future.
According to Umare, most developed economies around the world have emphasized about electric vehicles but China has taken a big leap in that space, just about every second vehicle in Beijing is an electric vehicle.
While China is leading the way with electric vehicles it is also making significant progress in the Artificial Intelligent (AI) space by teaching it as a subject in colleges and universities. China is really moving at a very fast phase and we should learn from them.
Meanwhile, the 2024 China Copper Cup gave him and other co- workers from Ramu NiCo an opportunity to interact with participating teams from around the world. It was their first time attending this competition and they were ranked third among other competitors
Umare said it will be better to select candidates who are able to listen, speak and write better English to attend the competition in the future.
He said The China Copper Cup Competition is high level competition to a point that some of our team members from KBK mine struggled with the public speech and online exam.
Umare noticed that the competition was meant for team leaders and suggested that they also attend the English classes and have public speaking sessions or look at options to improve education qualification for them.
He thanked Ramu NiCo for this great opportunity to visit China and participated in 2024 China Copper Cup, which also gave his colleagues an opportunity to interact with colleagues from other mines around the world.
“I want to take this opportunity to extend my sincere appreciation to Ramu NiCo for granting me the opportunity to participate in the annual China Copper Cup in Chifeng City, China,” Umare said.
“I also want to extend my appreciation to the organization committee of the China Copper Cup, management of Chiefeng Sulphur plant for providing the venues for the challenge, Ramu NiCo’s Beijing Office, Beijing Polytechnic College, translators and other participants of the competition,” he added.
He said China is a beautiful country and has been rapidly developing over the last 40 years and has some of best historically sites that has been preserved over thousands of years.
“As a Papua New Guinean seeing China now evolving in the mining business around the world gives me aspiration that Ramu NiCo can also expand its foot print both in PNG and all over the world,” Umare remarked.
